UgliStuffs was born in a windowless basement at the start of the pandemic. Out of boredom and curiosity, we started making small little rave bracelets for all the raves we were not going to (and honestly we have never been to a rave). When we had too many bracelets and not enough friends to give them to, we posted them on Etsy not thinking much of it. And then BOOM, a sale! And another, and then another! These ugli lil bracelets were making it around the world, and it was amazing!


Soon we were wondering what else we could create for all of our wonderful new friends and started expanding into other kinds of jewelry, like earrings, other bracelets, and necklaces. We started attending markets all over central and southern Alberta. In doing this, we learned a lot for the next year, making new forms of jewelry as well as expanding into t-shirts.

But something was missing. We weren’t sure what it was, but we hadn’t found our signature product yet. One we were overly proud of that everyone loved as much as we did. And then it happened. On a whim we bought 24 glass can cups. After we posted them, everyone went wild! Buying them left and right, for everyone from their mom to their dog. Soon these cups became our signature creation, making their way into stores in Lethbridge and Calgary.

For a few more months, we continued to create cups as well as many more sweaters and tees in our little home office, but it was starting to feel very small. Cups were stacked everywhere… in the kitchen, stuffed into closets, in the living room… it was time for a change. That’s when we decided to move into our retail location in Oliver Block! There we create all of our handmade products as well as have a retail storefront to serve all of our local friends.
